G-Class Expedition Suspension System

The Overland-G Expedition Suspension System defines the suspension architecture for Mercedes G-Class builds operating in off-road and expedition environments.

System Concept

This is a structural suspension upgrade designed to manage vehicle load, terrain interaction and stability. It is configured as a complete system where spring rate, damping and geometry are matched.

Lift Spring Configuration

The system uses reinforced Expedition Suspension Springs designed specifically for the G-Class platform. These springs increase ride height while maintaining stability under additional equipment load.

They support setups that include roof systems, recovery gear, fuel storage and electrical equipment.

Damping System

Long travel Off-Road Shock Absorbers are used to manage suspension movement. Increased travel improves wheel articulation and maintains contact with the terrain.

This results in more predictable vehicle behavior on uneven surfaces.

Portal Axle Configuration

For builds requiring increased ground clearance, the system can be extended with a Portal Axle Conversion Kit. This raises the axle centerline and increases clearance at the differential.

Load and Terrain Management

The suspension system is designed to handle varying load conditions while maintaining control across different terrain types. It supports both moderate overland use and more demanding expedition scenarios.

System Integration

All components are configured to work together as one system. This ensures consistent behavior and avoids mismatched suspension characteristics.

Compatibility

Compatible with Mercedes G-Class platforms W460, W461 and W463. Final configuration depends on vehicle specification and intended use.
